ELSINORE Paper Doll, by Laura Brock, 1933

This newspaper paper doll appeared in August of 1933. Elsinore was a member of the paper doll family created by Laura R. Brock. I think this paper doll series is a lot more interesting than the Movie Star paper doll series created by Laura R. Brock.

Lucky Bucks Play Money - ETTA KETT, 1933

Lucky Bucks Play Money appeared throughout comic strips in 1933. Each comic strip had their own Lucky Bucks for children to collect. Also appearing in the comics were comic stamps. Children were encouraged to invent games in which to use the play money.

This "Etta Kett" paper doll appeared in newspapers in August of 1933. She was a beautiful paper doll with a great wardrobe - I wish I had her clothes.

The newspaper article appeared in a Hamilton, Ohio newspaper on November 20, 1935. The article was to introduce readers to Paul Robinson, the young man who created "Etta Kett".

This is one of my childhood paper dolls, Lisa, from the television show "Green Acres". I really enjoyed playing with her and Oliver. I am missing several hats and I can remember an outfit of blue jeans and long-sleeved shirt for Lisa that I cannot find. I have two more outfits that I did not include.

MRS. WIGGS OF THE CABBAGE PATCH Coloring Contest, 1934

This picture is from a newspaper coloring contest from November 1934. The contest was open to kids of the age of 12 and under. 100 children won a pair of tickets to see the movie "Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch". The movie was based on the 1901 novel by Alice Hegan Rice. The movie starred W. C. Fields, Pauline Ward, Zazu Pitts, Evelyn Venable, Kent Taylor, Donald Meek and Virginia Weidler.

Here is Mary Jo McGinnis, kid sister of Muggs McGinnis. Mary Jo and her brother live with their grandma and grandpa McGinnis in a small town. Mary Jo, Muggs and their circle of friends get up to a lot of mischief. This paper doll appeared in newspapers on April 10, 1935.
